Only five more weeks until Christmas! Whether you just uttered a “yay” or an “ugh” doesn’t change the
fact that just around the corner the Christmas chaos commences – complete with long checkout lines,
hustle and bustle, and Black Friday. And if you survive Black Friday, there’s Cyber Monday. At least you
can stay warm while you shop, right?

The Christmas season has a much different relevance for non-profit organizations. The Tuesday
following Cyber Monday (November 27th this year) is #GivingTuesday, a specific day that shifts the focus
from getting to giving. #GivingTuesday is fueled by social media and collaboration between non-profits
and the public who support them. If it’s executed correctly, it can be very profitable.

Hillcroft Services provides residential, employment, and community support services to individuals with
disabilities. This #GivingTuesday, they are accepting donations to help purchase new heart defibrillators
for each of their three group homes. Donate here.

Muncie Civic Theatre, housed inside Muncie’s oldest city Block (the Boyce Block), has been providing
quality entertainment, events and education to our community for 87 years. This #GivingTuesday, they
are accepting donations for Seat Sponsorship, which allows you to commemorate a friend or family
member, an organization, your business, or simply to include YOUR name in the theatre’s rich history.

The Soup Kitchen of Muncie serves hot meals 5 days a week to the hungry. This #GivingTuesday, they
are raising funds to help to pay for their security officers, which keep the building safe for their
volunteers and clients. Donate here.

YWCA Muncie has been advocating for women’s rights and civil rights. They also provide safe housing
services to women and children. Their goal this #GivingTuesday is to raise $10,000 to continue their
mission. Donate here.
